The Conference Venue is located in the heart of Athens, close to exceptional shopping centres, restaurants and major archaeological sites: a perfect location that allows you to experience all that Athens has to offer. There are mainly three ways to travel from and to the Athens International Airport (El.Venizelos) to the conference venue. A map of the airport is at the very bottom of this page.
Athens has a convenient network of public transit including subways (metro), buses, and trams. The most well updated resources for using public transit in Athens are the “OASA telematics” and “Moovit” apps, with the latter being slightly more user-friendly, especially for automatically planning routes. All public transit shares the same ticket, so you do not need multiple types of tickets for different transit options.
The venue is located in the city center, so it is well accessible through public transit. There are two subway stations 10 minutes away from the venue on foot, on the red metro line (there are 3 in total; green-M1, red-M2, and blue-M3). There is also a tram station next to the venue, and a multitude of bus routes that take you similarly close. The map below showcases this accessibility (note for scale that the “FIX” station is 10 minutes away on foot):
By metro
You will board the Metro from the Airport’s Station (Metro blue line 3), get off at “Syndagma Station”, board on the Metro red line 2 and get off at “Neos Kosmos Station”. It is about half an hour ride and the cost of a single ticket is € 9 per person. From Neos Kosmos Station the Hotel is 700m away. You can find more here.
The metro map can be found here for convenience. Note that the conference venue’s central location allows relatively easy access to all metro lines.
By public bus
To access the Intercontinental Athenaeum Hotel (Conference venue) by city bus from the Athens International Airport, use the Line E95 (X95) from airport. You should get off at the “Syndagma” bus stop and board on Line 040 to “Syggrou Fix” bus stop. The ride lasts around 45 minutes and the ticket costs € 7.70. The buses leave every 15-20 minutes. You can find more here.
By taxi
All taxis are next to exit 3 at the level of the arrivals. Taxis are readily available upon exiting the airport; you should expect a flat fee of ~40 or 50 EUR during the day or night respectively to get from the airport to the city center (which is where the venue and most nearby hotels are located). For more information on the pricing please consult this table, taken from the airport’s taxi transportation webpage.
